Peter Ritchie is elected President of the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers (WDTL).  As President-Elect, Mr. Ritchie organized and executed the WDTL's annual convention at Sun Mountain Lodge from July 19-22, 2018.

July 12, 2018

Peter Ritchie prevailed in a significant commercial breach of contract case in the Washington Court of Appeals, Division III.  The Court of Appeals affirmed summary judgment in favor of Mr. Ritchie's client.

Jerome Aiken argues for reconsideration of a Medical Quality Assurance Commission (MQAC) action.  MQAC agreed to reconsider its decision and not pursue any further action.

Jerome Aiken successfully negotiated the resolution of a Washington Department of Health matter against a counselor.  DOH agreed not to pursue formal charges.

Jerome Aiken and Peter Ritchie tried an emotionally charged case involving a mental health client who brutally murdered his grandmother.  The children of the decedent brought a wrongful death lawsuit against the mental health providers and requested that the jury award several million dollars in damages.  The jury returned a defense verdict after deliberating less than 3 hours.

 

February 16, 2018

Peter Ritchie successfully argues for full summary judgment dismissal of an action alleging assault, battery, and false imprisonment, among other allegations.

Peter Ritchie successfully negotiated a favorable settlement in a personal injury and property loss case.

The law firm of Meyer, Fluegge & Tenney, which opened on April 1, 1987, is celebrating 30 years in business in Washington and Oregon.  Located at 230 South Second Street in Yakima, the firm was formed by Walter G. Meyer, Dennis L. Fluegge, and Robert C. Tenney with then-associates Mark D. Watson and Jerome R. Aiken.  The firm now also includes as partners John A. Maxwell, Jr., Peter M. Ritchie, James C. Carmody, Gary E. Lofland, of Counsel, associates Luke A. Eaton, Sean M. Worley, and Beth A. September 28, 2018

John A. Maxwell, Jr. and Peter M. Ritchie obtained a summary judgment ruling dismissing all claims against their client, a grain elevator operator, applying provisions of the Federal Food Security Act.

Meyer, Fluegge & Tenney, P.S. is pleased to announce the addition of associate attorneys Eric Chapman, Albert Chang, and Kindra Crawford. 

 

Mr. Chapman holds a B.F.A. in dance with a minor in philosophy and graduated from Lewis & Clark Northwestern School of Law in 2017 with a Certificate in Intellectual Property.  Mr. Chapman has utilized his training to serve communities in various capacities from Alaska to Arizona, Oregon to D.C., and abroad in Ireland and England. 

Mr. Chang obtained a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and M. in Public Admin. before completing law school at the University of Washington School of Law in 2019.  Mr. Chang enjoys assisting clients with a wide range of environmental permitting, environmental litigation, land use, and zoning related concerns.

Ms. Crawford obtained her B.A. from Central Washington University before completing law school at Georgetown University Law Center where she graduated in 2019.  Ms. Crawford spent her last semester of law school at the Center of Applied Legal Studies where she and her co-counsel successfully represented a refugee seeking asylum.
